Digital Storytelling- Jackie, Becky and Jenessa

What is Digital Storytelling?
"Digital Stories start with text but then marry the words to images- video and still- and voice-over narration and music." - Teaching the Neglected R, page 73

Newkirk, Thomas and Richard Kent, eds. Teaching the Neglected “R”. Portsmouth, NH: Heinemann, 2007. Print.
-- This book was our primary source for this project. Since our chapter was mostly in a step-by-step form, we used it to help guide us through the chapter and prestenation. It was used for the majority of out project. The use of digital storytelling in the classroom and the step-by-step explanation as to how to use it with our own students, really helped to provide a strong understanding of the material. It's a fun and easy way to get students minds thinking in a more interesting way than they have in previous classrooms!

-- We used this as an example of a digital story. It shows how voice and pictures/video come together to create a digital story. It's similar to the activity we did in class.

-- This website was extremley helpful in finding out what digital storytelling was exactly. It provided a good place to go for help and also gave a contact number so anyone could reach them with questions. They have everything from public workshops to helping you prepare for public speaking!

Again, most of our imformation came right out of The Neglected R because it gave a very clear walkthrough on what Digital Storytelling is. We didn't need much help from outside sources other than the ones listed above.
